Hey everyone,
I've been experiencing some really strange and intermittent network lag lately, primarily when streaming video (Netflix, YouTube, Twitch) on my main PC. It's not a consistent thing ? sometimes I can stream 4K perfectly for hours, and other times it'll stutter, buffer, and drop quality even at 1080p, then magically clear up. This happens across different browsers too.
I'm on a pretty standard cable internet connection (around 400 Mbps down, 20 up), and my PC is connected via Ethernet directly to my router. I've tried rebooting the router, updating network drivers, and even swapping out the Ethernet cable, but no luck. Other devices on the network (phones, tablets on Wi-Fi) seem to be fine, or at least I don't notice the same pronounced stuttering.

My precise question is: Given these symptoms, what's the most likely culprit here ? my router starting to fail, or could this be a subtle, intermittent issue on my ISP's end that's hard to diagnose? What are the best next steps to definitively pinpoint the cause? |
